A restaurant that we like very much to go to is the Sem Espinhas. It can be found on Avenida Republica 51, in Vila Real de Santo António. They also have a website www.semespinhas.net  It is located nicely near the river and in the summer you can also sit outside.

The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. You will find fresh fish, meat and vegetarian dishes on the menu. They have a wonderful Gazpacho at the price of 3.50 Euro.

This time I chose their tuna and salmon Carpaccio for 8,00Euro. It was fresh and very tasty.

Stene chose a half-portion of their fabulous risotto with mushrooms.

I love their creamy risotto with grilled mushrooms and chevré cheese, so I chose it as the main course. Tastes divine with a glass of red wine. You have to pay 11.00 Euro for the risotto.

Stene are meat lover so he chose lamb chops for his main dish and was very pleased with them, good grilled and nicely spiced.With this he had a mix salad. For that you have to pay 14.00 Euro.

To this we drank red wine from Alentejo- Vila Santa Reserva 2013 from the bodega Herdade Fonte Paredes Santa Ana. Tasted excellent. We truly love vine from Alentejo region.

We can highly recommend their desserts as well. This evening unfortunately there was no place for dessert. We decided to finish with a strong espresso. The restaurant invited us to a glass of amarginha, the Portuguese bitter almond liqueur. Served in a glass with lots of ice and a lime wedge, a perfect finish on a lovely evening.
